BOBBY BROWNE
STREET CRIMES PROGRAM Robert Browne is an instructor with the John E. Reid & Associates after spending 33 years with the Chicago Police Department. Mr. Browne spent over 33 years in a variety of assignments both in the patrol division and the detective division. Mr. Browne started his career with the Chicago Police Department in July 1964, at the age of 17, as a police cadet. Browne became a patrolman, at the age of 20, for the department in November 1966. Browne spent the next 12 years in various patrol division assignments, along with tactical unit assignments and the narcotics section. Browne was promoted to detective in 1978 and worked in both property crimes sections and violent crime section. Browne spent five years in the Criminal Investigation Unit, a career criminal division that concentrated on professional career criminals types. Browne was also assigned to the Intelligence Section of the Organized Crime Division that concentrated on traditional and non-traditional organized crime members, including South American Theft Groups (SATG) and a multi-state federal (ATF) task force that concentrated on motorcycle gangs (Hell's Angels and Outlaws). Browne has taught law enforcement officers both in the Chicago Police Department academy and for the ATF at various gang seminars on his knowledge of biker gangs. Browne retired in 2001 as a detective with the Violent Crimes Unit. |
